Jake Locker‘s future with the Tennessee Titans is uncertain.
The organization won’t be picking up the quarterback’s fifth-year option, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport on Wednesday. Although the Titans haven’t officially made the announcement, but it’s not expected to happen considering he would be owed $14.6 million in 2015.
At times Locker has played well, but injuries have impacted him during his tenure as the Titans’ signal caller. He had season-ending foot surgery last season and has a chance to be the guy if he can play well in 2014. Considering Charlie Whitehurst and Tyler Wilson are the backups, his job should be safe barring injury for the upcoming campaign.
The Titans are a team who could target a quarterback this off-season and knowing they won’t be picking up Locker’s option makes even more sense for them to pick up a guy with plenty more upside in case the incumbent isn’t their guy.
